Texavi's Usability Review and Redesign methodology is based on the proven industry practice of Heuristic Evaluation (also known as Expert Review) and our own experiences from previous implementations.

  • Understand - Study the documents and Conduct stakeholder interviews
  • Evaluate - Conduct expert review of the product, application or prototype
  • Identify - Find problems and areas of improvement
  • Recommend - Suggest solutions for identified problems
  • Design - Create design options for the recommended solutions

  • Go through the existing documents, specifications and artifacts
  • Study them to gain the required background on the product and progress achieved so far
  • Interact with your key stakeholders
    • Personal one-to-one interactions not exceeding 1 hour each
    • Need to have at least 4 stakeholder interactions
    • Understand the business vision, technology constraints, objectives and expectations
  • Present the findings to your team.
  • Share and discuss for your inputs and insights

Evaluate

  • Conduct expert review also known technically as heuristic evaluation.
  • Analyze the product, application, or prototype by comparing and contrasting with the following:
    • Standards
    • Design Principles
    • Guidelines
    • Best practices
    • Heuristics
  • Share the report on a periodic basis your team
  • Get feedback and re-work for improvement

Identify

  • Identify problems, gaps and areas of improvement
  • Look for them at various levels of User Experience, Accessibility, Internationalisation
    • Navigation
    • Interaction
    • Content
    • Functionality
    • Presentation
  • Share findings with your team for verification and validation

Recommend

  • Ideate on the possible approaches to solve the problems
  • Suggest the potential solutions considering the following aspects:
    • Feasibility (technical)
    • Viability (business)
    • Desirability (Users)
  • Share them with your team for review and inputs
  • Rework and improve the report

Recommend

Design

  • Create wireframes for the key pages in the proposed application
  • Create the final designs in specified formats
  • Share them with your team for review
  • Rework and improve the designs based on the feedback
